Description:
This senior-level position serves as marketing liaison to legal departments as assigned and works collaboratively with the attorneys and the marketing department on key projects to ensure coordination, appropriate leveraging of resources, consistency of approach and effective execution of initiatives. Develops and presents strategic initiatives to enable legal departments and industry groups to achieve business goals. Plans and coordinates firm marketing programs and related budgets for legal departments and industry groups. Oversees InterAction activities including ad hoc guidance and training to staff and attorneys to optimize InterAction for recording client and contact developments and marketing related activities. This position reports to the Marketing Programs and Client Services Director.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as marketing liaison to assigned legal departments, working collaboratively with the attorneys and the marketing department on key projects to ensure coordination, appropriate leveraging of resources, consistency of approach and effective execution of initiatives.
- Plans and coordinates firm marketing programs including seminars, webinars, breakfast briefings and university conferences.
- Researches sponsorships and industry groups and recommend potential opportunities to increase visibility of the firm, departments and attorneys.
- Responsible for developing a marketing programs budget on an annual basis.
- Collaborates with Business Development to conduct research on practice position in marketplace. Studies competition and understands trends in practice through analysis of news and public filings.
- Collaborates with Business Development and Finance to understand current client base by size of company, maturity and industry. Looks at types of matters/cases and trends.
- Works closely with practice leaders and business development liaisons to understand practice strengths and weaknesses and to develop strategic communications plans to highlight strengths.
- Works with communications and public relations teams to develop greater visibility among different audiences including media, internal and external constituents.
- Works with marketing communications to ensure that design and content of marketing collateral, including practice descriptions and biographies, meet industry best practices and are written to clearly highlight the unique strengths of each practice area and attorney.
- Oversees Return on Experience program which provides a way to report measurable results from our firm programs or key sponsored programs.
- Serves as marketing liaison on the various firm committees. Responsibilities include promotion of the committee internally and externally (development of web site and pages on intranet, for example), planning and executing events, , managing budget and planning committee meetings
- Manages the InterAction marketing mailing lists to ensure it is maintained and continually improved to meet the marketing and strategic requirements of the firm, practice groups or individual partners. Provides consultation and training to attorneys and staff to optimize InterAction and works with the IT staff and other service departments to improve the quality of client and contact-related data and analyze and recommend improvements and enhancements.
- Processes requests for marketing collateral from website and phone inquiries, and identifies and researches client and prospects to be referred to partners for follow-up.
- Performs special projects as requested by Department Officers, Directors and Managers.
- Works before or after regular business hours as needed; travels on a regular basis as necessary.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Contributes to the firm's Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
Requirements:
Experience Required:
- Ability to multitask and manage projects; demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing project criteria.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills; extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and other database applications; experience with financial software applications, statistical data management programs and contact management systems. Experience with InterAction.
- Ability to work independently and also as a team player with geographically dispersed colleagues.
Education:
- BA/BS required.
- MBA preferred.
Experience:
- 4+ years experience in legal, technology, management or market analysis environment.
